How to use it

Here are the steps to follow
-Download Openvpn and install http://openvpn.net
-Download pemu_win32_02.rar  and extract
-Download pix image and extract the bin file
-Make sure the directory for all is same.
-Open pemu.ini and rename the pix image name as appropriate.
-Go to “C:\Program Files\OpenVPN\bin\addtap.bat” and create on n/w connection, name that as tap0 again create the same and name that as tap1
-Go to command prompt and navigate to the pemu directory, and execute the following command “pemu -net nic,macaddr=00:aa:00:00:02:01 -net tap,ifname=tap0 -net nic,macaddr=00:aa:00:00:02:02 -net tap,ifname=tap1 -serial telnet::4444,server”

Again open a command prompt and telnet 127.0.0.1 4444

GNS3 is a graphical network simulator that allows you to design complex network topologies and to launch simulations on them.

To allow complete simulations, GNS3 is strongly linked with :

  • Dynamips, an IOS emulator which allows users to run IOS binary images from Cisco Systems.
  • Dynagen, a text-based front-end for Dynamips.
  • Pemu, a PIX emulator.

GNS3 is a excellent complementary tool to real labs for administrators of Cisco networks or people wanting to pass their CCNA, CCNP, CCIP or CCIE certifications.

It can also be used to experiment features of Cisco IOS or to check configurations that need to be deployed later on real routers. This project is an open source product that may be used on multiple platforms, including Windows, Linux, and MacOS X.

Konfigurasi Ad Hoc

Standarisasi IEEE 802.11 mendefinisikan protokol dalam dua tipe jaringan, yaitu jaringan Ad Hoc dan Client/Server ato lebih dikenal sebagai infrastuktur.

Jaringan Ad Hoc merupakan jaringan sederhana di mana komunikasi terjadi di antara dua perangkat atau lebih pada cakupan area tertentu tanpa harus memerlukan sebuah access point atau server. Standarisasi ini semacam etiket pada setiap perangkat jaringan dalam melakkan akses media wireless. Metode ini meliputi penentuan pemberian permintaan koneksi pada sebuah media untuk memastikan throughput yang dimaksimalkan untuk pengguna dalam menerima layanan.

Komunikasi Ad Hoc menggunakan media gelombang radio satu dengan yang lain, dan peralatan ini akan mengenal peraltan RF lain dalam cakupan sinyal yang saling berdekatan, sehingga komunikasi dapat dilakukan. Jaringan Ad Hoc dapat digunakan pada komputer – komputer notebook, laptop, atau peralatan handheld lain yang membutuhkan transfer data mobile lingkup kecil, dan tentunya yang mempunyai peralatan RF yang sama dan telah mendukung teknik Ad Hoc

Ad-Hoc Wireless Connection

Jaringan wireless ad hoc sangat cocok dilakukan pada saat saat penting untuk menghubungkan dua buah laptop atau lebih secara langsung tanpa membutuhkan peralatan tambahan seperti wireless router atau access point. Tidak hanya untuk keperluan File Sharing, bisa juga untuk share koneksi internet lho.

Konfigurasi yang dibutuhkan tidaklah rumit. Untuk membuat jaringan wireless ad hoc, tiap wireless adapter cukup di setting menjadi Mode Ad Hoc (mode standart adalah infrastructure mode).

OS : Windows XP

Cara mensetting laptop utama.
- Klik Start> Control Panel> Network Connections.
- Klik kanan pada wireless network connection, lalu klik Properties
- Pada Wireless Network Connection Properties, klik tab Wireless Networks
- Klik Add pada bagian Preferred networks
- Selanjutnya isilah Network Name (SSID) untuk jaringan yang akan anda buat
- Jangan lupa untuk mencentang check box This is a computer-to-computer (ad hoc)network: wireless access point are not used
- Anda juga dapat membubuhkan WEP Password agar koneksi anda aman.
- Klik OK dan OK lagi untuk menyimpan konfigurasi anda.

Cara mensetting laptop lainnya.
Windows XP otomatis akan mendeteksi jika ada Wireless Network yang aktif
- Klik kanan pada icon Wireless Network yang berada pada taskbar, lalu klik View Available Wireless Networks.
- Wireless Network Connection akan menampilkan list SSID wireless anda. Klik SSID wireless anda lalu klik Connect.
Jika pada laptop utama ada anda bubuhkan WEP Password maka windows XP meminta anda untuk mengisi password sebelum anda terkoneksi ke jaringan ad hoc anda.
